  1. Find what's calling "Enter Parameter Value"

When Access asks for a parameter, it's usually a bug (because something got renamed, for example). All too often, I have no idea which control is asking for the value, so I have to manually look into the source objects of every dropdown, sub control, etc. It's a HUGE pain in the neck for maintaining large forms.

Can we get some kind of Dev mode that would add another button to the "Enter Parameter Value" that when clicked, would show us the specific control(s) calling for the value? That would be so helpful!

  2. Allow theme colors in conditional formatting

We use theme colors heavily in our applications, but it becomes very cumbersome when it comes to conditional formatting. The formatting only supports selecting a fixed/constant color, so you can't select a theme color.

  3. Improve the facility to group tables under its parent database in the Linked Table Manager form

I have more than 10 Backend ACCDB's connecting to a single Front-end ACCDB. In such a scenario it becomes very difficult to identify which tables are linked to which database.
I would like to request the Access team to Group all tables to the ACCDB from where they are being linked to. This way its easy to identify and relink only the required tables and jump directly to its parent database.
    Thank you in advance.

  4. Translucent form

Translucent forms looks much better than a usual form.
If possible please try to add a method to create a translucent form in access.

  6. Expose method to get row under cursor

In a continous form, if you click an image, the focus does not change to the row in which the image is placed, unlike when you click e.g. a textbox. Obviously Access must have a method of identifying the current row as well as moving focus to that row. Please expose these methods to the VBA environment and the developer.

Initially I would like to just use this for e.g. images, but it would be nice if it was possible to get the current row during mouse-over as well, to allow for better context sensitive displays.

  8. Auto Correct (2 Issues)

Please consider disabling “Name AutoCorrect” and “object dependency information” (Objektnamen-Autokorrektur) by default. It does more harm than good.
    - Assistants and Database Parts should not “correct” existing forms. Although I have disabled Name AutoCorrect, I’ve had this issue recently.

Please consider setting the “AllowAutoCorrect” property for text- and combo box-controls to false by default. Many kinds of input fields like Names (of people, places) don’t benefit.

  9. Dedicated Lookup Control

Just like a combo but without a drop down button and does not allow editing. It would be bound to a FK but display a selected column from the related table but not be editable and would not have a drop down button.

This would save having to add related tables to a form's record source when you only want to display a column. And you definitely don't want to allow the user to modify it.

An example would be on a continuous form bound to tblInvoice, The control is bound to tblInvoice.CustomerID but displays tblCustomer.CustomerName.

    This could possibly be…

  10. Have the Search box in the Navigation Bar autoexpand when used

The Search box in the Navigation Bar at the bottom of forms is a pretty small area -- sometimes tiny, depending on the size of the form. And if you use a Navigation Caption, it's even smaller still.

When the user clicks in the Search box, it should auto-expand, making the scroll bars next to it temporarily shorter and the Search box longer, until the user is done with the search. Then it can go back to normal.

Alternatively, it could be replaced with a small pop-up that appears when the user clicks in it. But just increasing the size…

  11. Fix rendering of VBA UserForms with Parent controls (eg. Frames) in Access 2003+ file formats

The Access 2000 mdb format supports VBA UserForms with normal and parent controls, but all database formats beyond Access 2003 (ACCDB) only render UserForms that do not include Parent controls.

Being able to reuse UserForms across VBA hosts is a very useful way of reusing code and User Interfaces, but a runtime error (Error 75) occurs when trying to render a UserForm in an ACCDB database format, when there is a Parent control (such as a Frame or MultiPage control) present.

Parent controls enable rich functionality and more intuitive UI, but Access fails to render the forms, with an error…

  14. Make Access fully MDI

Although the UI of MS Access has been modernised with Office Fluent Ribbon, Access is not fully MDI - all the displayed objects - forms, tables etc.. still display within the current window. How about keeping up with Word and Excel programs, have the option for each object to display in a separate Window?

  16. Redraw errors with lables while browsing through records in forms

Since Access 2007 there is an annoying effect regarding label texts while you are browsing through records in data driven forms. Every time you do so, some of the labels (seemingly not all of them) are redrawn with a minimal offset to their original position without removing the old pixels. This results in making the label texts bolder and bolder - very annoying!

There is a similar effect with command buttons using advanced formats (styles).

  17. Deal with sleep mode properly for tablet environments

When a tablet or PC goes into sleep mode any active form looses its connection to the database backend (I am using SQL Server). This is very annoying in tablet environments where the PC is frequently switched to sleep mode. Make it so that Access can detect a reawaken from sleep and refresh the connection automatically rather than leave an error so that the user doesn't have to log off and reload the screen.

  18. Allow developer to put animations like gif images or flash

Review the shockwave flash object and put a animated gif component.
    An example for usage:
    a) We can use little flash animations in splash screens
    b) Animated gifs could be an option instead of progressbars (like the "loading" icons we see on web pages)

We do have a shockwave flash component - but at least here I can't make it work in Access 2013). The gif idea came from a customer.

  19. Modify form and report designer to allow use to add (sub) sections (detail/group/header/footers)

I would find the ability to add additional sections would give greater design capability. Similar functionality to that provided in Crystal Reports.

  20. Create a customizable validator for textbox

Access has a field validator in table designer.

But in forms would be good to have, for example, predefined (and customizable) validators, like e-mail, directly on textboxes. And, instead of a message box, we can paint the control and show a tooltip with error.

For reference, take a look at section "validator" in Bootstrap or Material design.

    Thanks!
