I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Allow Update of Linked Excel Worksheet

The patent preventing this was taken out in the early 1990s so it should have extinguished by now.

Given that this would make Excel much easier to use for charting, which Access no longer has, it would seem time to re-implement this ability.

Preferably with better control over column data types.

    • Create ACE Engine Redistributable for Access 2016!

Since Office Click-to-Run Installs can result in the ODBC / OLE-DB Drivers for ACE NOT being visible to the system outside of the VDI install environment, we need a CURRENT version of the ACE engine redistributable package (the last one being from Access 2010 - 6 YEARS AGO!)

      • Add the ability to import selected VBA references in the Import Objects dialog

A frequent task in Access is to import some or all database objects from an existing database into a blank new database. After that, we must painstakingly set all non-standard VBA references in the new database the same way as in the old one.
It would be nice if we could specify in the Import Objects dialog which references should be copied from the existing database into the new one.

        • Import/export specs edit feature

Currently, the developer needs to go through the process of importing a file into a database in order to create or edit an import/export spec in the MSysIMEXSpecs table. True, the MSysIMEXColumns can be edited directly in the table, but overall, the process is not very user friendly. There needs to be functionality to create/edit import/export specs without have to pretend that one is importing an external file.

          • Include the ability to connect to new data sources such as those listed in POWER BI

New external data sources are growing rapidly and it would be useful to keep up-to-date and have ACCESS include these new types.

            • Who is using the Database?

On a shared network with a backend/frontend configuration, (or even in a single-shared-file arrangement), please provide a tool that tells us who has the database open.

              • Linked Table Manager -- skip tables with errors

in the Linked Table Manager, skip tables with errors and continue linking with all in the list -- leave the problem tables checked and uncheck the tables that were successfully linked.

At the request of Microsoft, I am creating a new suggestion to separate the multiple ideas from the suggestion here:

                http://access.uservoice.com/forums/319956-access-desktop/suggestions/10129782-linked-table-options?tracking_code=2f58832dad1aa8b9e83d9230087106c8

                • Linked Table Manager -- SIZEABLE Dialog Box

Access 2016 has a wider dialog box for the Linked Table Manager, but it would be even nicer if this dialog box was sizeable -- and even better if the size can be remembered!

At the request of Microsoft, I am creating a new suggestion to separate the multiple ideas from the suggestion here:

                  • Attach SQL tables without "dbo_" or give the option to do so

It would be more intuitive to link sql tables WITHOUT the owner prefix.

                    • ODBC errors need to return more information error 3146 does not provide enough detail

Perhaps an error.description2 property which we can reference which stores the error returned from SQL about the true problem. Right now it is very difficult to trouble shoot.

                      Thanks.

                      • Fix the TransferDatabase command so that it exports tables to Oracle properly.

When I try to export an Access table into an Oracle database it doesn't retain the input field formats. Everything is converted into a string and the indices are lost. I've contacted Microsoft about this before but got no meaningful response, presumably for petty proprietary reasons.
