When I set the form recordset to an ADODB recordset, things no longer work the same as when I just use a linked table.
Fix Access so using an ADODB recordset works the same as a linked backend table
When I set the form recordset to an ADODB recordset, things no longer work the same as when I just use a linked table.
For example, a Subdatasheet no longer uses the "Link Master Fields" and "Link Child Fields" form properties.
When the end user tries to use the autofilters, they just get an error message.

Enhance Import Fixed Width Text wizard with ability to indicate that first row contains column headings
When importing delimited text (e.g. CSV) one can indicate that the first row contains column headings.
This ability does not exist for fixed width text. It should, to make the feature more useful and consistent.4 votes -
Extend exporting/importing/linking tables to/from a SQL-Server
I think it would be very nice if ODBC-Connections to a SQL-Server would preserve:
a) The Primary Key constraint while exporting.
b) Constraints like default values while exporting.
c) Extended properties like 'MS_Description' while exporting.
d) Auto value/IDENTITY while exporting.And also b) + c) while importing or linking tables.
While a) + d) still works (sometimes) while importing or linking, it does not work in a one to one fashion. The Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant for Access (32-Bit) is, unfortunately, buggy (or completely broken after v7.3.0) and extremely slow to open even medium-sized databases.
Once upon a time,…

Synchronize the field Notes of Outlook Contacts with Access
You can easily synchronize your Outlook Contacts with an Access Database, but there is one field that is not synchronized: the notes field.
I would like to have the notes synchronized with my database.

Implement large number support in OLEDB
When Large Number support is enabled in an access database, it becomes unavailable to OLEDB with the error "The database you are trying to open requires a newer version of Microsoft Access".

Choose columns when linking to Salesforce (see power query)
- make it possible to select a subset of fields from a Salesforce object
Primarily, this would make it possible to work with SF objects that have exceeded the limit of 256 or whatever it is for Access. There would be other benefits too. But this alone would make the Salesforce/Access integration much more doable (right now I have to use an intermediary such as power query or sql server for these larger objects)
- make it possible to link to Salesforce reports. (less important but very helpful)
1 is really very necessary. I'd go so far as to say that without

XML Export and Import of Large Number (BigInt)
I can't complete round trip ExportXML and ImportXML of a table that contains a "Large Number" (BigInt) field. Currently, the BigInt field is stored in the XML output with an attribute:
<xsd:restriction base="xsd:decimal">
When the XML that was exported from Access is imported back in to Access the field type is changed to "Number" and then all values that are bigger than Number fail to import. When you say that you support BigInt I expect built-in functions to support it. You can test this using the export and import buttons in the GUI.

Link to Outlook WebApp contacts folder
Create a link to Outlook WebApp contacts folder.
The connector already existing depends on an Outlook PC/MAC version to get the data from. I suggest creating a connector directly to the contact's server folder.
That way it would be possible to edit easily a list of Outlook WebApp contacts in Access.3 votes -
Data Connector For QuickBooks Online
We are currently developing and testing a dotnet interop app that allows an Access frontend to integrate with QBO via API calls, and was wondering if you would be interested creating a QBO data connector.

Querydef as source for subform
We have no way to use querydef as subform soure
Problem
Option 1 use ado - disadvantage - no master child
Option 2 - linked table - disadvantage - no server side filter, can bring millions of records to client - stupid and ineffective
Suggest
Option 3 - querydef as standard snapshot recordset for all forms and subforms and server side filter
You are 15 years behind.3 votes -
VISIO
Improve the interactive data-exchange between ACCESS and VISIO.
A visio worksheet should be integrable into a form like a chart, and the data of selected shapes could be made available as a single record.

Base Access
Hello
I use Access since its version1. Until today I have not found an equivalent in terms of reliability and speed in development. Since then many improvements have been made on various options, except to the engine of the base. What it lacks today is native access to SQL express server. This would help with a seamless, easy and efficient transition to standard SQL server.

Fix new Settings Incompatibility Bug
I believe I have hit a new bug in ACCESS.
This conflict shows up when a front end using standard Access SQL connects to a Back-end using SQL Server Syntax (ANSI92).
It results in very strange behavior with Combo-Boxes failing to Auto-Complete and Wildcard Queries not returning results.
Access 2010 is immune! Phew.It is repeatable and can be reproduced by following the process:
There appears to be a new bug in ACCESS 365 / Click to Run.
It DOES NOT EXHIBIT on Access 2010, but I have not tested with 2013.Issue: Combo Boxes (drop-downs) fail to Auto-Complete List…

Automatically recognize foreign keys in the relationship view when connected to MySQL
At present the foreign keys aren't recognized when connected to MySQL over ODBC. Neither are they shown in the relationship view.
