I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. multi core

Multi Threading for MS Access. As we all know ms Access is a single threaded application. If you all remember the fun of seeing, "this program is not responding" during a particularly heavy query or task. Multi threading would add huge value to the speed efficiency and capabilities of this application. I realize it would make visual studio WPF not as much of a stand out but lets be honest Access needs to get some real loving (not silly things like a search bar).

    • bug - New 2018 Black and grey themes

Changing to the new black theme and then closing out of access completely - re open access and change theme to colorful and the navigation search bar remains black, changing to grey and back to colorful also does not change the search bar back to white.

The black theme is a nice idea and aligns itself with windows themes and visual studio however the implementation leaves a lot to be desired. Disabled ribbon button labels are too dark and don't have enough contrast to be visible. Open a query editor window and try to read the labels in the bottom…

      • In Pipeline template, make the Opportunty List column names the same word as the Customer List imported from Outlook; ie Customer =Company

To use the template for Pipeline; it would be advantageous to import contacts from Outlook (which it does) and have the Customer name in the Open Opportunities List be the same Field Name as Company, and then have the Employee fill with First Name and Last Name from the customer list (cf Outlook).
Possibly have the category sync from Outlook category also, but be able to override it.

I suggest you add the following new categories and reorganise posted ideas: "Errors", "VBA/VBE", "Import/Export", "Performance", and "Security".

          • Additional status for tracking Access User Voice ideas

We currently have: "Need more info", "Planned", "Done!" and "No Current Plan". I propose we add: "Started", "Cancelled", "Accepting Votes" and "Already Supported" so we can better track our ideas.

            • Add a Development Tab/Ribbon to the UI

This exists in the other key Office apps. Why not in Access? Of course, we can create one manually. But why not out-of-the-box?

              • please fix the jump occurring when scrolling in the navigation pane of Access 2016

When scrolling in the navigation pane of Access 2016 on a Windows 10 box, the list always 'jumps" back up to a higher place than I have scrolled to. Though I have applied a few changes to my mouse and set screen enlargement to 100% (which is not realistic for me as the font is too small), the screen still jumps. I never had an issue in previous versions of Access. From researching a fix, It appears to be a long standing and unaddressed issue. It's a migraine trigger when the screen jumps and I'm trying to find something in…

                • Replace VBA with VBA.net.

Replace VBA with VBA.net. You exist because of your customer. Develop solutions to your customers' needs, not your agenda. CUSTOMERS' NEEDS = VBA.NET! I don't understand why your company does not grasp this necessity. Good grief!!

                  • I am trying to import data from .csv and missing the ability to import a field formatted as a simple date.

I was looking for Microsoft Access assistance for an issue I'm having with importing date data from a .csv file. I'd like to import as Date, Short Date. The only option I'm seeing is Date with Time, which does not work when importing my date data. Using the date with time option actually deletes all of the dates that I'm trying to import. If I select text, I need to go in and change all date fields after each import to be date, short date formatted. Help please! Am I missing something? Can this be fixed, or will I need…

                    • Fix inlined member calls, on user objects on 64-bit VBA

In 64-bit VBA hosts, inlined member calls on user objects don't work like on 32-bit VBA hosts.

Given a UserClass with a getter/setter and a Class_Terminate handler (even it is empty).
And in a TestModule a factory procedure returning an instance of this class and also setting the setter.

When I now use this procedure and inline check the value of the getter like in the following sample, it results in a different behaviour compared to 32-bit VBA:

                      If CreateUserClass(True).TheValue Then

Please take a look in the attached text file for a complete sample:

                      UserClass.cls:

                      Private mValue As Boolean

                      Private…

                      • Bug Report -- Multiple Access Crashes

Since 8/1/2018, MS Access has been crashing repeatedly on multiple machines in our office. We are on 64 bit Office 365 and Windows 10. It appears some bug must have been introduced during one of the automatic updates.

This crash appears to occur with automation where I think a second instance of MS Access is calling an MS access program, but not totally sure:

                          • In Access documentation, include the Access version(s) in which the feature is available

In the Access documentation, please include the version in which each feature was introduced. That will make it possible to design in one version of Access and know that the database will run on an earlier version. Right now, the only way I know to do this is to test the database on an earlier version and find the components which aren't available by trial-and-error.

(Note: that I've posted a similar suggestion in officespdev.uservoice.com for the Access VBA reference.)

Old versions of office allowed users to install on any hard drive they wanted. The current office 2016 consumes up valuable hard drive space for the Operating System. Allow the user to decide where they want it installed. To make it easy have a express or custom option for installation. I have seen many companies use this option it allows easy installation for those who are less tech savvy and those who have experience to customize their installation. I use Visual Studio 2017 and it allows an installation option. THIS IS A MUST most people have small hard drives for…

On the Todo's section of the calendar, the Subject should be on the right side and the Client should be on the left side. You have it reverse. Interestingly odd that when the report prints it is client on left and subject on right. Can't you make the todo section of the calendar the same.

                                • Document the LoadFromText and SaveAsText methods

There are two undocumented methods, SaveAsText and LoadFromText, which were originally used for the old SCC integration. Since Access 2013, the source code integration has been removed and we now rely on third party tools (e.g. OASIS-SVN or Ivercy being example). It is my understanding those still rely on the undocumented methods. This request is to ask that Access team document those methods and thus make it supported so that those tools can continue to count on it being available and provide a solution for source code without taking any resources from Microsoft.

                                      • Find a way to prevent "phantom breakpoints" in the VBA IDE, this has been an issue for 20 years

We all know about these; an end user runs your Access application, and it freezes up and suddenly displays the VBA code window to the user with a line highlighted in yellow. The user is confused and concerned, and thinks it's a bug in the program. A quick random edit and recompile usually fixes this, but how about fixing the problem that these breakpoints really do get cleared when you click to Clear All Breakpoints? In some business environments you can't only deploy MDE or ACCDE files.
