  1. Make Content Fit Within the Visible Area of the Screen

When I open a table in design mode, the windows opens and the right-hand side often goes beyond what is visible within the screen and will go behind the property explorer. This means every time I want to close the objects I have to move the object, often several times, before I can access the control box. Same goes for queries, forms...

This is very poor ergonomics and makes accessibility very difficult. You have an available unused area (screen minus ribbon, minus nave pane, minus property sheet) use that and do not go beyond that unless I manually resize it…

  2. Enhanced Crosstab queries

In crosstab queries besides count, sum, average etc., there is only the possibility to take either the first value or last value as VALUE. There is no support for concatenation of string values. It would be nice to have such a concatenation function or more generally a callback function where the user can decide how to transform the values.

  3. Allow current version options for Export to Excel

When exporting report results there are two options for excel output format (95 and 97). Excel is a very effective output format but these two versions seem to cut the size of text to 256 characters (not so useful when the display limit in current versions of Excel for text in a cell is 1024 (even though content stored can be much greater). Would like to see an option for current Excel format.

  4. Auto expand the height of the active Control in Forms and tables when the content has more then one line!

Like in Excel or in Access Reports it schould be possible to autoexpand the rowheight for every single row in tables and in Forms, specifically in continious forms. For example: 1st row = 1 cm height, 2nd row = 3 cm height because of lot content, 3rd row = 1 cm height and so on... (sorry for my poor english;-)

  5. Add an option to re-order form-items

Til now you can re-order tab-order of items of a form, however the .form.items-collection is not reordered.
Add an option to re-order items also by id (sequence in collection) or whatever.

  6. Clearify use of RichText fields

Til now RichText fields only work partly. You can declare a forms-field as richtext, it however awaits html-code.

  7. Optional Checkbox in Subforms to select multiple data rows

I am using subforms instead of listbox because of color- and other design issues. a multi-select-option for endless forms by use of a checkbox would be ideal (so far i implement this feature by adding a boolean property to my table and react to after-update event of checkbox)

  8. Retention of formating when exporting

Fix required for retention of colour and formatting for action buttons in forms when exporting from one database to another. Currently these properties are lost.

  10. Office 2016 / ODBC - Problem with drivers in Access files - Please confirm if this is By Design

Customer has a HRD application connects to Access DB. After installing ODBC 2016 or Office 2016 (which includes ODBC), the awards in Logbook ceases to work and reports only zeros. Customer has a workaround for now:

Fix: An automatic workaround will be put into HRD.
    Workaround:

Modify the registry to use the new (old) strings.
    1. Pull up regedit and go to HKCU\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI\ODBC Data Sources
    2. Note the “Microsoft Access Driver (.mdb, .accdb)”. That was added partially in 2007 and fully in 2010. Some older entries may have the old style string already.
    3. Change them back to the…

Thanks for calling out this issue Subhabrata.
    We are investigating this issue.

@Mark Burns – this is a different issue that we are looking into as well. Please post as a separate suggestion so people can vote on it and we can address.

  11. Restore the "Allow Built-In Toolbars" option so we can dis-allow!

For MDB's, this Option in 2010 moved the Menu Bars & Toolbars to the top of screen out from under the Add-On and eliminated all the Ribbon noise. Also Alt+Shortcut keys actually worked. I hate the 4-5 key shortcuts in ribbons (Alt-X2M1 - are you kidding me????) That's not a shortcut!

  14. Integration with Cortana will be critical in a few years

    1. Amazon’s Echo (Alexa), Microsoft’s Cortana and ChatBots are the next big thing. MS Access can be part of this trend making it incredibly relevant again.

    2. Add navigation commands such as “Open”, “First Record”, “Next Record”, “Previous Record” and “Last Record”.
The “Open” command would be followed by the Form or Report…”Open Sales Order”…”Open Purchase Order”.
If possible a “Find” command would really rock. “Open Contact Maintenance”, “Find Jane Smith”.

  16. Uniform Mouse Behvior Throughout the Application

It would be nice if you could standardize the mouse Behavior throughout the various components in the application.

There are a number of examples, but one of them is the difference of double-clicking in the SQL Editor vs. VBE windows. In the SQL Editor, it will select part of the term (whichever part you actively double-click on), yet in the VBE it will select the entire term. It would be nice if the behavior was consistent.

  17. Allow VBA to examine whether Access instance is logged into O365 or not

If your FE is pointing to SharePoint lists but you are not logged into the relevant O365 account in Access when you open the FE it just hangs. It could also be useful to improve SharePoint backend related security.

  18. To implement the same functionality like in Excel to get the data from table located in web page.

Usually there are some data located locally and in some web pages. There are some ways to get web page data to access database throgh VBA, but it's not so convienent and universal.

  20. Create ACE Engine Redistributable for Access 2016!

Since Office Click-to-Run Installs can result in the ODBC / OLE-DB Drivers for ACE NOT being visible to the system outside of the VDI install environment, we need a CURRENT version of the ACE engine redistributable package (the last one being from Access 2010 - 6 YEARS AGO!)

    For more info see: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2874601
