Create a connector for SharePoint
Hi,
In the menu External Data > New Data Source, there is no way to connect to an Excel file stored in a SharePoint folder.
That's a problem because more and more companies use SharePoint and all the Excel in the SharePoint are "invisible" for Access

Fix the issue of Access returning an incorrect record ID when a bound form is connected to a SQL Server table that has an insert trigger
Access returns an incorrect record ID when a form is bound to an SQL Server table that has an 'insert trigger' that inserts a record into 'another' table. The record ID returned is actually the record ID of the trigger inserted record into the 'other' table. This is because Access calls SQL Server for @@IDENTITY rather than SCOPE_IDENTITY() when inserting a new record. This particularly affects SQL Server tables that are 'replicated' as these tables have an MS shipped 'insert trigger' on the table for use in replication. We have an MS Support Case # 23043471 where we have had…

XML Export and Import of Large Number (BigInt)
I can't complete round trip ExportXML and ImportXML of a table that contains a "Large Number" (BigInt) field. Currently, the BigInt field is stored in the XML output with an attribute:
<xsd:restriction base="xsd:decimal">
When the XML that was exported from Access is imported back in to Access the field type is changed to "Number" and then all values that are bigger than Number fail to import. When you say that you support BigInt I expect built-in functions to support it. You can test this using the export and import buttons in the GUI.

Querydef as source for subform
We have no way to use querydef as subform soure
Problem
Option 1 use ado - disadvantage - no master child
Option 2 - linked table - disadvantage - no server side filter, can bring millions of records to client - stupid and ineffective
Suggest
Option 3 - querydef as standard snapshot recordset for all forms and subforms and server side filter
You are 15 years behind.3 votes -

Integrate MS Access with Power Apps
I've been looking more into Power Apps, and I think it would be great for you to work with the Power Apps team to provide a web and mobile solution to what Access can do today on the premises of a server. Because there is unfortunately no web version of Access, maybe Power Apps can help solve this problem? Ideally, we should be able to continue moving (and linking) Access data into SQL and then create a Power App on top of the "Access-created" data from SQL; essentially viewing a Power Application that looks exactly like access but online and…

This is great feedback that we are actually working on providing now. Using the comments below, we’d love to hear thoughts about solely focusing on SQL as a stepping stone to Power Apps for data migration purposes, or also investing in another way for you to connect to Power Apps through the Common Data Service (CDS). This database allows you to store, share and manage your data over the web, and eventually the phone (current MS investment). CDS is also Power Apps’ central underlying storage unit, as well as the entire Power Platform team’s key investment.
Please see following link for information about CDS, and let us know: if Access created a data export & linked table capability from our platform to CDS, would you use it?:

Choose columns when linking to Salesforce (see power query)
- make it possible to select a subset of fields from a Salesforce object
Primarily, this would make it possible to work with SF objects that have exceeded the limit of 256 or whatever it is for Access. There would be other benefits too. But this alone would make the Salesforce/Access integration much more doable (right now I have to use an intermediary such as power query or sql server for these larger objects)
- make it possible to link to Salesforce reports. (less important but very helpful)
1 is really very necessary. I'd go so far as to say that without

Implement support for (ADO) linking SQL tables and views using Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server
There is only support to use the ODBC driver for linking tables and views to Access 2016/2019 databases. For ADO we need to avoid mixing connection string and database access technologies.
