  1. 365 Update breaking the database drivers

This happened to a lot of our clients back in 2016.

    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/7964a808-81dd-49a5-8883-3d62cd03af5a/the-operating-system-is-not-presently-configured-to-run-this-application?forum=vclanguage

I have not had this problem until this week and have gotten three calls about it. At least I can run the install of the 2010 drivers to fix it. I was told I should leave a heads up here about the issue.

    Thanks, Dan.

  2. improve richtext Editor: static menue bar and insertion of pictures

the richtext Editor is ok and can be used for simple html formattings.
But the useability is awful, instead of marking the text and moving the mouse there should be an option to permanantly show the menue bar. There should be an option to insert a picture.

  3. improve format options for some controls

    1. Formatting functionality (shapes/styles) for buttons replicated for textboxes, labels and rectangles, perhaps others.

    2. Option to resize and format check and option boxes

    3. The option for a line to include an arrowhead and perhaps flight. aka shapes in excel/word.

    4. The ability to map one control to another (similar to labels mapping to controls) but with the ability to choose which corner maps to which corner

  4. BUG: deep hiding tables removes data from complex datatype fields

A fellow developer reported this fairly obscure bug to me as I work extensively with what I call 'deep hidden' tables using property dbHiddenObject (MSysObjects Flags=1). If a table containing data in attachment or multi value fields is 'deep hidden', the data APPEARS to be deleted from those fields. The data is NOT restored if the tables are returned to normal.
I have tested this and confirmed it to be true. I have also checked the contents of the related deep hidden system tables (each beginning with f_...) and the actual complex data is still present. However the user tables…

  5. Increase Accdb file size capacity

2 GB size storage capacity, could be enough for maybe more than 5 years that if small growth of data entry, but for thousands of data could be entries in just 1 year it would be a fear to reach it's limit. For me i don't need 10 GB but maybe 4 GB could be better than what we have today.

  6. networkdays is a function in excel that provides date difference in workdays. Recommend same function be made available in MS Access

networkdays is a key concept in service level agreement measurement and project management reporting. It measures workdays between two dates. This function exists in Excel and should be easy to port into Access

  8. Protect Rich Text Box Links

I use Rich Text boxes to store Email Templates, so that the text looks nice as an Email and also contains HTML Web links.
However, if anyone tries to edit the box in Rich Text mode, all the links immediately disappear

    eg: <a href="https://www.w3schools.com/">Visit W3Schools.com!</a>

    gets turned into Visit W3Schools.com!.

Can we retain any links when editing the box in normal mode please?

  11. Fix the "System Resource Exceeded" error that requires Processor Affinity be set to 0.

We have a number of users at work who regularly report, when using Access 2016, that they get a "System Resource Exceeded" error when running certain queries. It is intermittent, but happens frequently. Didn't used to happen on Office 2010, or under Windows 7. Happens regularly under Office 2016 under Windows 10.

Multiple threads online point to the current "workaround" being to set Processor Affinity to 0, rather than utilizing all cores of the process. This seems like a shitty solution, and it would be better if the underlying issue(s) with using multi-core processor(s) would be fixed, so the workaround…

  12. Allow the "suggest link fields" dialogue box to be expanded (desktop version)

I have a subform which isn't working, so I wanted to check which parent and child forms are linked.

There is a dialogue box with a 'suggest' button.

When I click it, the box is not resizable, so I have no idea what Access is suggesting I use to link my subform becuase the text is longer than the box allows.

    Poor show, Microsoft. Please fix.

  13. add a new menu item view sql

add a new menu item in order to view the sql behind a query; sometimes it takes ages to load a query in design, I just want to see the sql behind it

  15. Create a built-in age function

Create a built in age function. This function should take in birthdate and ageasof_date as inputs, and calculate age as an output.

Datediff is close, but a little bit off, and requires adding a more complex if/then corrective function to get age fully precise.

In cases of contractual or regulatory compliance, the added precision is required.

  17. Modern charts - bug or by design?

Not sure if anyone else has run into this issue. The modern charts clustered bar (was what i found this issue on) if the X axis displays a date range and that date range is fixed as month or year or day or quarter and the form is saved then if you have a method that you call in some way that tries to change the dates type (from say month to day or year to month) then this will not action. it runs; but does not actually do anything. If you design the form and change the graphs date…

  18. Accessibility

I've received a few request for Accessibility from our CSAM's to provide while Customer Engineers are delivering workshops. Since these requests I've not be able to find any information or anyone that can provide this information on Accessibility. If a customer need Accessibility for a workshop that is being delivered via remote or onsite it would be nice to be able to provide this as a service to our them. This would be very beneficial to our customers.

  19. Adjust/move "Clear Attachment" box

On Notes section, make the "Clear Attachment" box smaller & to the right hand corner. Less likely to accidently clear an attachment!
(which I have done a few times!!)
    Thanks!

  20. Provide an Option to Disable the Add Tables Palette

The 'Add Tables' palette is redundant as tables & queries may be added to a query by dragging them from the Navigation Pane.

The Add Tables palette is displayed every time a new query is created and it would be useful to be able to disable it completely.
