  1. Async and await

    Async and await like .net.
Access as an application that connects to remote data (sql server or web apis) and then freezes on every call makes no good user experience.

  2. Buy out EverythingAccess.com's vbWatchdog add-in and incorporate it into VBA

Error-handling: Buy out EverythingAccess.com's vbWatchdog add-in and incorporate it into VBA. It makes error-handling so much easier and much like that in .NET.

  3. Add Calendar Objects

table, form, report: all oriented to a calendar display. I imagine the table/date field can be optioned for single day, hourly, 1/2 hourly, 1/4 hourly.

Not just appointments such as is served by Outlook; there is a steady demand to see data in a calendar display - orders, sales amounts, work processes.

  4. Add the ability to import selected VBA references in the Import Objects dialog

A frequent task in Access is to import some or all database objects from an existing database into a blank new database. After that, we must painstakingly set all non-standard VBA references in the new database the same way as in the old one.
It would be nice if we could specify in the Import Objects dialog which references should be copied from the existing database into the new one.

  5. add event: Before Leave Record

an event that would be nice to have is Before Leave Record. This would enable a main form/view to ensure there are are actually detail records

  6. Limits are reached - if I open one more form: Error 3048: Cannot open any more databases

I have 2 reports and 1 form open. Each of theses has complex data sources (with many joins, subqueries...). If I open an fourth report - I get the error message.

I think the limits are to low. Please upgrade them.

  7. Enhance Vertical Text to turn 90, 180, 270 degrees

Idea here is, that you should be able to turn text a) not only top to bottom but also b) flipped and c) bottom to top

  8. Improve the Colour Selection Feature

To choose a font or background colour in Design View is really abit clunky to say the least. Say you select a control and want to change its colour...
If you Right click on the control and select Back Colour you get a rather feeble array of 70 colours, some too dull and others too bright.

If you go to the properties of the control you see a hex number and a drop down arrow and a triple dot, the dropdown giving you a range of system colours (but you can't see what they are) and the triple dot giving…

  9. FULL OUTER JOIN

The current workaround is to UNION a LEFT OUTER JOIN and a RIGHT OUTER JOIN together. This is repetitive and error-prone. Please implement the FULL OUTER JOIN in Access.

  10. file corruption. make access more robust. even with sql server backend is frontend corruption a problem

I would think after all these years MS has a pretty good knowldge about reasons for file corruption. It is quite the joy when The dreaded dialog that deletes Your vba Project appears...

  11. Prevent tables & queries being copied in ACCDE files

ACCDE files provide significant security especially if combined with password protection, disabling shift bypass, hiding navigation pane/ribbon/application window, using a SQL Server backend etc.
Doing so prevents users importing forms/reports & of course code from another database. However, a major weakness & common complaint is that users can still import all tables & queries including hidden & system tables.
It is possible to make tables 'deep hidden' to prevent this ...but even that can be reversed ...if you know how.
Please add code to prevent this security loophole using VBA (not in the ribbon!). If users lock themselves out by…

  12. Join desktop and web database into a single solution that renders HTML5 user interface

When database is created it should be possible to use it as a desktop database or to publish it onto for example IIS for a web usage without any changes to it. The publishing engine should be capable of rendering forms as a HTML5 user interface. VBA functionality should be interpreted as server side and or client side VB Script. Probaly forms should be saved as XML for that purpose.

  13. Provide Ability to Create .accdr runtime files from Access "Save & Publish" module.

One of the biggest problems IT Departments have with desktop Access is security issues. Microsoft can do multiple things to address these concerns. One of the most straight-forward is to make it easier to publish a runtime file. Access application administrators should be able to publish a runtime file as fast as they can publish a .accdb or a .accdt file.

  16. Add running total() and rownumber() functions to queries and forms

If you are doing any finance related database running totals are an absolutely necessity. At present there is a capacity to do this on reports but not on forms. Workarounds are available but they are clunky and slow the queries down massively on even relatively small datasets.

These functions are available in some SQL implementations and they are long overdue in Jet/Access.

  17. Create an "expert mode" option that disables Access novice features in design mode.

For examples, it frustrates to me when Access decides to trial run my complicated or data intense cross-tab queries upon entering or exiting design mode. And sometimes it alters a failed query automatically when I open it in design mode. In all cases the auto changes are destructive, even when I try to close out of design without saving. There are many other automatic features for dummies that I'd love to disconnect but can't.

  19. MsgBox Custom Choices

With MsgBox, we can process vbYes, vbNo and other built-in choices ... it would be nice to be able to have 3 custom choices ... ie: vbCustom1 and vbCustom1Caption, vbCustom2 and vbCustom2Caption, vbCustom3 and vbCustom3Caption,

  20. Enhance SQL aggregate functions with DISTINCT (count distinct, sum distinct, avg distinct)

The DISTINCT option for aggregate functions is actually missing.
