Automatically resize MS-Access Applications
A major problem in the distribution of MS Access applications is the lack of scalability. Controls are not automatically adjusted depending on the particular resolution in Windows.
412 votesThank you for your feedback. The Access team is currently looking into resizing Access applications, starting with forms. We will provide you with a notification when this is available, and will continue to work on additional resizing/zoom support within different areas of the product at a later time.

Enhance the SQL Editor
Some features would be good to developers:
1) Tabbed SQL Query Windows - allow user to create a query window without binding to a query object (like we do in SQL Server)2) Format the query field with highlighting, identation, colors and make possible to even resize the font size. .
3) Allow intellisense to get [table].[field] list (in A2013 we have it in Query Designer but no in SQL mode)
4) Split the window in SQL Query and result pane - and make it possible to see result in table or text format (like we have in SQL Server).…
362 votesThe Access team is adjusting our status for this request – we are planning to embed the Monaco Editor (support for SQL Editor improvements) into Access, to be released within the next semester (first half of 2021), which will provide capabilities such as syntax highlighting, IntelliSense, SQL comments, and more. We are excited to have this capability released by next year, and we appreciate the energy and enthusiasm on this feature request. We still have a long ways to go to improve our experience with SQL, so please stay tuned as we execute on this objective!

Make 32-bit Access large address aware (LAA)
Now that the 32-bit version of Outlook 2016 becomes large address aware (see https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Large-Address-Aware-in-Outlook-2016-ea0913e4-2917-4456-b0ea-935dbd57ef02), it would be great to get that for MS Access as well.
(We hit the 2GB barrier every now and then when batch-exporting MS Access reports as PDF. Having 4GB support would be great. Upgrading to Office 64-bit is usually not an option in corporate environments depending on third-party add-ins.)
295 votesThank you for your feedback. This work is in scope to be completed within the next few months. The Access team appreciates your patience in advance.

Make Access a better ODBC client
Given that the trend is toward ODBC and away from OLEDB (ADO), there are number of gaps still present in Access as an ODBC client:
1) support for asynchronous operations
2) support for processing multiple resultsets
3) support for streaming large results
4) support for updating complex data sources (e.g. binding to a stored procedure and then specifying which stored procedure to call to perform insert/update/delete)and other features that has been added to ODBC (currently at v3.8) but is not available via DAO.
This is necessary to enable Access to transition away from ADPs, better leverage remote data sources…
239 votesThank you for the feedback. These requests have been an ongoing discussion with the team, both internally and externally. Especially with our continuously increased focus on establishing a stronger Access-SQL experience, we do plan to have some requests on this work looked further into within the next year. We will keep you posted with specific feature designs in scope as well as timelines. In the interim, you can continue checking our public roadmap for feature updates.

Fix Windows 10 1803 Frontend - Backend corruption issues
We have some databases with a split front end (stored on local computer) and backend (stored on a server mapped via relative path) using Access 2016 (build 9126.2259). Since upgrading many computers to Windows 10 1803 the backend database constantly becomes corrupt. We have to disable the three caches referenced in the article linked below in order for the corruption to stop, but this makes file server operations much slower while also causing unnecessary network traffic. We never had this issue on Windows 10 1703.

Provide a MS-Access connector to PowerApps and Flow
We have a webservice on which we have a PowerApp connector that enables PowerApps to run any macro, vba procedure/function, opening of a form to fill in text-fields and/or perform the equivalent to buttonclick-events in an Access Application. If MS-Access out of the box could configure and enable a webservice on the machine it's running and thus would enable a PowerApp to be a cloudfirst/mobilefirst frontend presentation layer, MS-Access 2019 would really become something new. When the Access application has linked SQL-tables to SQL-2016 or up, it can easily delegate the creation of JSON to SQL-server, but I wouldn't be…
190 votesWe have presented in a recent user group session about an investment we are making in building a CDS Connector within the Access application, to successfully move your data to and from CDS; which will power a variety of Power App and MS Flow applications.
Check out the presentation here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_o3F89EcBI, and scroll to the latter half of this video to hear more about CDS/Power Apps. -
Fix saving column order in datasheet view
I have noticed this issue whereby you move columns and when the user exits the form, the datasheet columns revert back to the original (pre-saved) order. The work around I found was to hide/show columns, toggle one field on then off, close dialogue and then it will save. Not very intuitive.
Thanks for fixing.
90 votesNote that typically the reason this happens is that there is code behind the datasheet form that modifies properties on the form or controls (e.g. Textbox.Locked). Access intends to save the datasheet column widths without saving the properties changed in code, and that process was not working as expected. We are planning to fix this, but in the meantime, you may be able to work around this if you can avoid changing form/control properties in code (e.g. by using Conditional Formatting instead)

Access database in an inconsistent state...Windows 10 1803 update
Access database in an inconsistent state....since the release of Windows 10, 1803 our significant percentage of our 3500 customers have consistently lost connection to the back-end database and been forced to stop work during the day to repair their database. Only recently did we discover the leasing fix. In the meantime, our product reputation has been adversely affected. Please release a production update since many of the IT people have refused to make the lanmanserver registry entry and are waiting for the Windows update. HELLO MICROSOFT PLEASE HELP!!
81 votesWe are well aware of this issue and are working closely with the Windows team on resolving it. Although we believe we have a solution to the problem, it introduces some new issues that we need to investigate and resolve before we can deploy the fix.

Enable Access (and all VBA apps) to work with the new Microsoft Graph
"Microsoft Graph is the gateway to data and intelligence in Microsoft 365. Microsoft Graph provides a unified programmability model that you can use to take advantage of the tremendous amount of data in Office 365, Enterprise Mobility + Security, and Windows 10.
You can use the Microsoft Graph API to build apps for organizations and consumers that interact with the data of millions of users. With Microsoft Graph, you can connect to a wealth of resources, relationships, and intelligence, all through a single endpoint: https://graph.microsoft.com."It seems that just about every language except VBA can be used to run…
68 votesA new data connector that allows users to link to and import from Graph API is on our roadmap and will be released to O365 customers in the next few months.

bring it into conformance with high DPI design standards
Need to clean up all the UI to scale properly on high DPI displays. E.g., Navigation pane vertical object spacing, low res navigation pane object and navigation (expand/contract) icons, and "Save changes to the following objects" dialog box.
(Hate to spend precious votes on what is basically a set of defects, but there it is.)

Bug Report -- Multiple Access Crashes
Since 8/1/2018, MS Access has been crashing repeatedly on multiple machines in our office. We are on 64 bit Office 365 and Windows 10. It appears some bug must have been introduced during one of the automatic updates.
This crash appears to occur with automation where I think a second instance of MS Access is calling an MS access program, but not totally sure:

Change Link Path Without DB
It would be great to be able to Change the Path of existing Linked Tables to another path even if we don't have that path. This would greatly simplify deploying to client networks. We could deliver the database all ready and configured.
11 votesWe are designing on a new Linked Table Manager dialog, incorporating suggestions and requests made in UserVoice and other forums.

Add a butoon on the end of each tab to quick close
Some actions require for a sheet to be closed. While I see the logic for this it would be easier if when the mouse hovered over the tab a button to close the tab would pop-up. This would be much faster than left-clicking the tab and then selecting close

Office 2016 / ODBC - Problem with drivers in Access files - Please confirm if this is By Design
Customer has a HRD application connects to Access DB. After installing ODBC 2016 or Office 2016 (which includes ODBC), the awards in Logbook ceases to work and reports only zeros. Customer has a workaround for now:
Fix: An automatic workaround will be put into HRD.
Workaround:
Modify the registry to use the new (old) strings.
1. Pull up regedit and go to HKCU\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI\ODBC Data Sources
2. Note the “Microsoft Access Driver (.mdb, .accdb)”. That was added partially in 2007 and fully in 2010. Some older entries may have the old style string already.
3. Change them back to the…4 votesThanks for calling out this issue Subhabrata.
We are investigating this issue.@Mark Burns – this is a different issue that we are looking into as well. Please post as a separate suggestion so people can vote on it and we can address.

Improved Table Manager
Create an enhanced table manager that allows users to specify data source (sql, access, txt etc), source table name, attached name, any passwords (encrypted or hidden) and primary keys so that the system will drop existing links and refresh as needed. You would need a couple of tables for data sources and data source tables but many developers have done this over the years and lots of examples that could be incorporated. This is used all the time.
