  2. Access 2016: Form border width is too narrow .

Sizeable MDI forms in Access 2016 have a single-pixel border that is very hard to grab with the mouse.

The form borders show as a single-pixel whether the form mode is "no border", "dialog", "sizable" or "thin".

One work-around is to make the form a popup form, but if you make every single form in the database popup, you lose the MDI functionality and the ability to have a genuine popup form. When everything is on top then effectively nothing is.

This creates a serious accessibility issue particularly when combined with the fact that MS Access forms and controls don't…

  3. Fix borders in Access 2016 to work properly!

Borders on various MDI documents still do not work correctly on forms and datasheets for resizing with mouse (especially lower right corner). Difficult and unreliable to grab borders and border corners at all. Problem has been reported many times and is well documented on the net. Still unfixed as of 12/27/2017.

  4. Build a new better Access

Imagine a client side, pure javascript, SPA web application that displays windowed, data bound forms that talk to SQL Server. These forms are modeled with all of the well though out capabilities of Access forms (same subforms, datasheets, subdatasheets, controls, events, and properties). The development environment is Access-like but Javascript has replaced VBA. SSRS and PowerBI render the reports. SQL Server is the database and the web server, delivering the application through a web port, manages the session/connections, and maintains data. The product comes with SQL Server. Not bound to the cloud, but bound to SQL Server.

  5. Fix form border widths in Access 2016 under Windows 10

I don't know if this is a general problem with Office 2016, or if it is specific to Windows 10 users, but I find that sizable MDI forms in Access 2016 have a single-pixel border that is very hard to grab with the mouse.

The form borders show as a single-pixel red line, and have no difference in appearance regardless of the mode of the form, whether the mode is "no border", "dialog", "sizable" or "thin". The border appears the same in design mode.

I've tried this on a couple of different computers running Office 2016 under Windows 10, and…

  6. Include Access runtime in editions of Office which have click-to-run which stops installation of most up-to-date version of runtime.

When a PC has an edition of Office 365 installed which does not have the full edition of Access included, e.g. all the Business editions and the basic E1 enterprise edition, it is not possible to install the current version of the runtime as well since the Access runtime is an MSI installation and Office 365 is click-to-run. See https://blogs.office.com/2015/12/16/access-2016-runtime-is-now-available-for-download/ for more details.
If Microsoft do any serious development on Access (let's call it Access 2019), it means we cannot install the Access 2019 runtime and will be stuck with the Access 2016 runtime (or earlier), thereby missing out on…

  7. Make it easier to select edges of controls/boxes for re-sizing

When selecting control edges such as in Query Design when re-sizing the table/query boxes, make it easier to select the edge. Right now, I need precision movements to get the mouse to select the edge to re-size the box. This applies to almost every instance of selecting a control or box within Access.

  8. Access Link Table Manager

In the Link Table Manager, when users chooses "Select All" it should relink all tables at once rather than hitting "ok" button to confirm if that table should be relink.

A new and improved Linked Table Manager is available to O365 subscribers starting version 1808 (Build 10730.20088).

Please continue to provide feedback and help us improve it further.

  9. Do something before the Access Team looses it jobs

Every single good idea that has been posted here has been rejected. It truly appears that MS is only interested in their cloud products.

The Access Team better do something or they are all going to looking for a new job like the rest of us who rely on their product to help make a living.

The past month has been filled with the rejection of ideas, some that could bring this product to new levels. Either it is too difficult for their developers or its all about $$ in the cloud services.

It amazing they just cannot see that…

    Hello,

Please follow what’s been added to Access 2016 (O365) here:
    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/what-s-new-in-access-2016-76454345-f85d-47af-ace1-98a456cb3496

You can also view O365 public roadmap and search for new features that are in development
    https://products.office.com/en-US/business/office-365-roadmap

Another good source of information is the Access TechCommunity space here:

    The Access Team

  10. Bug in Access 2016 Build 9126 - right-click fail

With Build 9126, can no longer right-click on the title bar of open objects -- unless the database is set to "Tabbed Documents" in the Document Window Option. If it's set on "Overlapping Windows", then the right-click only works when on the object in the Navigation Pane.

So if I design a Query and then view the Results of it, I have to Save the Query so I can access its Design View again.

  14. Access - Dynamics 365 connection unavailable after update to ver. 1711

Hi, I was able to link to my Dynamics 365 tables with the version 1708 (build 8431.2107) but not with the version 1711 (build 8730.2165).

So I did a rollback to version 1708 and stopped the auto updates.
When will be again available the Dynamics 365 connection?

    Thank you!
    Walter

    Hi Walter,
there may have been an issue with this Office version preventing you from seeing the Dynamics connector.
I can assure you we haven’t removed it.

Please update to the latest version.

    Thanks,
    Michal [MSFT]

  15. Forms view not scrolling

With the last version update of Access, the forms no longer scroll. The wheel on the mouse doesnt scroll anymore. The scroll bar also doesnt work when you drag it up or down. Is there a timeline for a fix on this bug? If no known timeline, I will have to downgrade my version of Access to fix the problem.

  16. Urgent. Please Fix the application crash when changing field data type for table

Already provided evidence to microsoft support; however, I was instructed to post here. Error easily and consistently recreated. Recent Build 1711 fails every time when creating a new table and then simply changing data type to number of large number. 1711 is unstable.

The issue is now fixed in Version 1709 (8528.2139). To get the update immediately, open any Office 2016 app and choose File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.

  18. Please fix the problem with embedded ole objects in Access Forms and Reports with Windows 10 ver 1703

I recently updated my computer to Windows 10 version 1703 and since then embedded objects in Access forms and reports do not display properly (cannot be seen). When Windows is downgraded to its previous version the problem disappears. The problem occurs with Access 2010, Access 2013 and Access 2016 (all 64bit).

To demonstrate the problem do the following:

    1) Create a blank Access Desktop Database (Database.accdb).

    2) Create a new table (Table1) within the database.

    3) Add an AutoNumber field (ID) to Table1

    4) Add an OLE Object Field (Document) to Table1.

    5) Create a blank form (Form1) within the…

  19. Make your video training playable

I am trying to access the training videos for Access at the link below but I can only get the first video to play. Videos 2, 3, 4, and 5 won't play. I chatted with a Microsoft representative and she saw the same issue and directed me to this board. I tried using Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox but none of them would play the other videos.

  20. License check bug in latest update to Access 2016 for ActiveX controls

After the latest update to Office 365, we can no longer use the Windows common control C:\Windows\SysWow64\MSCOMCTL.OCX). When opening an Access 2016 database that uses that Common control, it now says that you don't have the license needed to use this ActiveX control, and only blank forms are shown.

This common control has worked for decades in office 2007, 2010 and 2016 up until now.

    The version is 1707 (8323.2962).

This is fixed in build 16.0.8326.2087, which is now available. It will start updating automatically next week, but you can use ‘Update Now’ to get the update now.
