Further, if there is a problem with the default/installed printer driver, Access should automatically revert/default to "standard"/print-to-file defaults, rather than get hung up or fail to render screens or reports at all. Allow us to select the default printing data, like HCL , HTML, or a PostScript rendering for the default settings as a group of Access Option settings.
and why does it matter what the printer is to layout reports? Word, Excel, and PowerPoint don't care ... so why does Access?

Users often have a specific printer not available to the developer, for example a label printer, and having this selection overwritten with each new version requires considerable effort to correct.
Allen Browne's solution works but it's not easy to implement.
