  1. Ability to view the Field list in the VBA Code Module

When you are in the VBA Code Editor, and you want to refer to a field on the form, you have to flip back to the form to find the field name before you can use it.

It would life so much easier if the field names were listable in the code module in the View option as per the Object Command on the Form's Design View.

  2. Auto refresh linked tables, when front-end file moved

Auto refresh linked tables, when front-end file moved. Relink to current folder if back-end not found.
Best usage is to split front-end from Jet back-end.
Often we move this 2 files to a new location, but then we have to relink manually. Imho, it would be nice to have an automation\option that detect that we moved the front-end file, and that relink to the back-end in the current new folder (the same as FE folder). Of course it should be optionally, because many times we leave the BE in the same old location on the network LAN. Thanks for reading.

  4. Please provide integration with a Mobile device for Capturing Images & storing them directly into a field

    Hello Team,
It would be great if we can have a method to directly capture a picture using our mobile phone and have that picture stored directly in the Access database in a specified field. This can help in many industries not just Human Resources.

    Thank you in advance

  5. Add Aggregate UDF type to VBA

Currently writing a UDF to operate on a single record when placed in the formula for the field definition is easy; however there is no way to write a UDF that shows up in the aggregate 'Total' drop down box of a group by query. An example usage would be making a 'JoinASC' UDF which would concatenate all of the aggregated data of the grouped records for the field it was applied to.

  6. Try to solve the Error 3828 when exporting data from a query to Excel

I have code exporting data from queries to Excel. All lines but one works. The last line gives the error 3828.
"Cannot reference a table with a multi-valued field using an IN clause that referers to another database"

The code line is like this:
DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acExport, acSpreadsheetTypeExcel9, "DeliveriesThisMonth", PathToEXTAB, True, "Deliveries"

But there is no multi-valued field in any of the tables.

  7. Allow VBA to set DIsplayControl on linked tables consistently

Setting the "DisplayControl" property on a field of a linked table using VBA works.

You can read the value back using VBA, even after closing, compacting and reopening the database.

Dragging the field onto a form uses the correct control.

However, the interface still shows the value "Text Box" until manually changed by the user.

    Code:
    With CurrentDB().TableDefs("TABLE").Fields("FIELD")
Set prp = .CreateProperty(strProperty, "DisplayControl", acComboBox)
    .Properties.Append prp
    Set prp = Nothing
    .Properties("DisplayControl").Value = acComboBox
    End With

' You can do this in the immediate window and the value is 111 (acComboBox)
    Debug.Print CurrentDB().TableDefs("TABLE").Fields("FIELD").Properties("DisplayControl").Value

  8. Keep trusted location and file across Access version

When a user trust a file or location, it should be unecessary to re-trust the file or location again after update to new version of Ms Access.

    Two problems with this behaviour:
    1) As mentionend, it is strange for the user having to re-trust Access Application after it is trusted on previous version
    2) I use automation to run utility Access file from main Access app. They reside in same, trusted location as main app. If New version of Access breaks trusted location, then it will not help if user Accepts the main app as trusted - the utility apps…

  9. Automatically demote references the way you promote them when app is run using different version of Office

Fix references to demote as well as promote (at least for Office versions). If the app doesn't work, it's on me. Just provide a meaningful message.

Early binding is much more efficient and it is also easier to code because of all the intellisense available. But most environments are mixed and your policy of of not demoting references forces developers to either maintain multiple development environments or to always work in the oldest environment they need to support OR to use late binding and completely give up all the short AND long-term advantages of early binding.

    Please fix this. I…

  10. Add "Site" to the "Move to Sharepoint Site Issues" table

When moving tables to SharePoint, on error, Access creates a somewhat nice table with Issue, Reason, Object Type, Object Name, Field Name ... but no info on the SharePoint side! hmm... someone dropped the ball on THAT! :)

  11. Create APIs for existing email methods and other "canned" wizards

The existing email mechanics for sending emails to create/update data are nifty, but problematic.

    1) they are so limited in terms of automatically enabling complex data handling and customized business rules - especially if attempting to inter-operate with other enterprise-level systems, like SAP or Dynamics as the final data repository. For example... wanting email approval of a work order or PO...the updates to the enterprise systems will require significant coding and implementation of business rules specific to the organization, but the email handling itself is relatively trivial.

    2) the lack of ANY API accessibility in the email send/reply process, especially…

  12. Can we have an AutoExit capability?

If I (as a developer) want certain events to happen when the database is closed, I have to go through setting up code in a hidden form that executes when Access shuts down. This works but is sneaky and clumsy - especially when one is asked to maintain someone else's work and that person is no longer with the client. A simple cure is to allow an automated AutoExit macro that runs on close, exactly like Autoexec runs on open. And, like Autoexec, the proposed AutoExit will not run if we hold down the Shift key when closing the database.

  13. Create an "expert mode" option that disables Access novice features in design mode.

For examples, it frustrates to me when Access decides to trial run my complicated or data intense cross-tab queries upon entering or exiting design mode. And sometimes it alters a failed query automatically when I open it in design mode. In all cases the auto changes are destructive, even when I try to close out of design without saving. There are many other automatic features for dummies that I'd love to disconnect but can't.

  15. Report Events Need To Be Cleaned Up

You really need to clean up the Report Event Model so that code inside a Report gets fired the same way in Preview, Report and Print modes. It is obvious from the Internet that lots of people have run into this and there is little or no common-sense help on this issue ... this itself is strange.

If, for example, you add a message box in the OnOpen Event of a report, the message box fires if you run Docmd.OpenReport with the acViewPreview switch but not if you use the acViewPrint or acViewReport switches.

If you place the same code…
