  1. Create a way to see other users accessing the same object.

If there was a way to see other users on the same object it would make it so much easier. The risk for deleting data would be gone.

    • To make Access grapher to be able to plot graphs from multiple tables...

Hello, I would like Access's X-Y scatter plot grapher to be able to plot graphs from multiple tables, much like Excel can. Currently, Excel has a limit on 1,048,576 lines. I have about 1.2 million lines of data from couple tables that I need to plot in sections together in the same plot. If I do it in Excel, the data would need to be stored in more than 2 columns. But in Access, I can store all of the data in 2 columns. Also, at that many points, Excel hangs up during loading while Access does not.

      • please fix the jump occurring when scrolling in the navigation pane of Access 2016

When scrolling in the navigation pane of Access 2016 on a Windows 10 box, the list always 'jumps" back up to a higher place than I have scrolled to. Though I have applied a few changes to my mouse and set screen enlargement to 100% (which is not realistic for me as the font is too small), the screen still jumps. I never had an issue in previous versions of Access. From researching a fix, It appears to be a long standing and unaddressed issue. It's a migraine trigger when the screen jumps and I'm trying to find something in…

        • Extend exporting/importing/linking tables to/from a SQL-Server

I think it would be very nice if ODBC-Connections to a SQL-Server would preserve:
          a) The Primary Key constraint while exporting.
          b) Constraints like default values while exporting.
          c) Extended properties like 'MS_Description' while exporting.
          d) Auto value/IDENTITY while exporting.

And also b) + c) while importing or linking tables.
While a) + d) still works (sometimes) while importing or linking, it does not work in a one to one fashion.

The Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant for Access (32-Bit) is, unfortunately, buggy (or completely broken after v7.3.0) and extremely slow to open even medium-sized databases.

          Once upon a time,…

          • Make 32-bit Access large address aware (LAA)

Now that the 32-bit version of Outlook 2016 becomes large address aware (see https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Large-Address-Aware-in-Outlook-2016-ea0913e4-2917-4456-b0ea-935dbd57ef02), it would be great to get that for MS Access as well.

(We hit the 2GB barrier every now and then when batch-exporting MS Access reports as PDF. Having 4GB support would be great. Upgrading to Office 64-bit is usually not an option in corporate environments depending on third-party add-ins.)

              • Make a time only data type in Access like the one found in sql server.

Many times we need to store only time values in a table, I know this can be done with the current date/time access data type, but a problem arises when you have a time only column in a SQL server back-end table. Access doesn't recognize this as a date/time but considers it as a text.

                • Can we have onClick() events on the bars/columns/slices in the new charts

Love the new charts but can we have onClick() events on the bars/columns/slices so that create drill downs using VBA
Always made me sad that MSGraph had events in Excel but not Access.

                  • Create a truly locked down FE format

ULS was a pain and way too many people implemented it incorrectly but it did serve a function which we have lost. People who develop Access apps for others need a way to completely lock down the FE. The .accde doesn't cut it because users can still modify tables, queries, and macros. We need something that acts like the .accdr but which isn't a trick. I understand why creating an .exe is not an option but you should be able to create a "permanent" format that acts like .accdr but which can't be undone by simply renaming the file. That…

                    • Package accdr with the runtime

Please make Access package the runtime with mde/accde/accdr into a standalone EXE like VFP and RBase to avoid the annoying setup and version conflict and make it a truly stand alone app.

                      • Async and await

                        Async and await like .net.
Access as an application that connects to remote data (sql server or web apis) and then freezes on every call makes no good user experience.

                        • Give us a new dll - MSJSON.dll

Currently to work with XML objects from API calls we have an object model from referencing MSXML6.dll that make iterating through the response easy. With JSON we can only get strings of data that we have interpret. If you created MSJSON.dll for us we could manipulate JSON data as easily as XML and make life easier for developers dealing with API calls.

Recently I got a new monitor with a resolution of 3440 x 1440. I wanted to create a Form that uses the entire Screen width. I failed because the Specifications only allows a width of 57,79 cm (which in this case corresponds to about 2200 pixels). This was completely sufficient for decades but with these screens nowadays…

                                • Datasheet Column Header Formatting

Currently (Access/Office 1706), the only formatting capability for column headers in datasheet view is with the DatasheetColumnHeaderUnderlineStyle property, and this only seems to work for value 8 (Double Solid). It would be great if some extra capabilities could be added:
                                  1. Set HeaderHeight (absolute or relative to normal row height, f.i. twice normal).
                                  2. Options to wrap & align text within Header.
                                  3. Set Background color / Font bold & color.

Of course more comprehensive header formatting is imaginable, but these basics would already be a great improvement.

                                  Thanks, Hans (Netherlands)

                                  • Make Access a better ODBC client

Given that the trend is toward ODBC and away from OLEDB (ADO), there are number of gaps still present in Access as an ODBC client:

                                    1) support for asynchronous operations
                                    2) support for processing multiple resultsets
                                    3) support for streaming large results
                                    4) support for updating complex data sources (e.g. binding to a stored procedure and then specifying which stored procedure to call to perform insert/update/delete)

and other features that has been added to ODBC (currently at v3.8) but is not available via DAO.

This is necessary to enable Access to transition away from ADPs, better leverage remote data sources…

                                      • Continue and extend backend functionality from AWA in Access Desktop

Given the fact a decision on AWA has been taken, here's I think what the development team should do. 1. Make AWA datamacros available in Access Desktop 2. Extend with support of Update/Create/Delete Queries in the query designer. 3. Explode functionality by making datamacros that return just one value available as functions within expression builders of queries and datamaros 4. Support the database qualifier in front of tablenames the way it is already available in SQL-Server between databases. this way users can integrate AWA managed and non-AWA managed very easily. (integration with CLR SQL-server projects and other tools that generate…

                                        • Automatically resize MS-Access Applications

A major problem in the distribution of MS Access applications is the lack of scalability. Controls are not automatically adjusted depending on the particular resolution in Windows.
