  1. I am a former DBASE programmer. I find that language to be very powerful and yet the language in ACCESS does not support it.

I could create a PRG file that would perform much as an application ...
I am gradually learning the intracicies of ACCESS objects and how to build embedded queries inside of queries. I am also able to build some pretty exotic filters at this point. The Do While Loops coupled with nested If statements in DBASE enabled me to perform some pretty complex real world processing, that I find more n more complicated to replicate using ACCESS. It would be the BEST OF THE BEST if there was a bit of the same syntax as the Ashton Martin - DBASE.…

  2. Please provide a link to datasets to be able to follow along with the MS Access tutorials

I cannot follow along with all the steps given I do not have a dataset to work with that is similar to the tutorials.

    Thank you for posting.
Most Access tutorials published by Microsoft refer to the Northwind database which is available as a template in Access.
Use the search box in the templates page to search for it if it doesn’t show up in the first page.
You will find this database sample to be highly useful in learning Access and following tutorials.

    Hope that helps,
    Michal [MSFT]

  4. provide an offline trial install of individual office products. Not everyone can just sign up for free trials of office365

Seriously. I should be able to install a trial without having to dish out a credit card.

  6. VBA string variable can not handle strange characters, Long text field (Memo field)

A VBA string containing a long text variable should be able to be handled in VBA without reading the variable content as part of the string.
For now Access vba apparently reads the variable content, and a long variable (string) contains odd characters it either gives an error or populates the variable text truncated.
The only way today handle such long text strings with odd characters is unfortunately enforcing use of ADO 3.6 Library and using late binding and record sets, then access vba do not read the variable content as part of the string.

  8. Ctrl+A in a textbox should select all text instead of all records

Currently, when I'm in a form's textbox and I instinctively hit Ctrl+A to select all text (just like any other Windows application), nothing happens. Or so you may think, in fact everything happens! All records get selected, and if you dare hit the wrong button while you think you have selected all text of the textbox, woe is unto you.

Should Access really be different from all other programs out there? Why should a user think that when in a textbox and hitting ctrl+A it won't select the text?

Of course, there are workarounds (like a VBA function that hijacks…

  11. Mac Office 365 pricing - Why am I paying for Access & Publisher??

Mac users cannot download Access or Publisher, but we are paying for the full subscription price that includes those apps - if you are not going to provide those apps, you need to change the pricing and/or offer a different tier subscription to Mac users.

  12. Please bring back Dynamic Charts and Pivot Tables

Hello, some of the features that have been dropped on Access from the 2013 version is a frustrating fact.
Specifically, I'm talking about the PivotTables and PivotCharts.
I developped for my company two applications that manage the commercial activity and another for the management of operational risks.
This feature (PivotTables and PivotCharts) had been very useful for reporting in the 2007 and 2010 versions.
Now this feature is no longer supported and our IT Department has migrated the Office to the 2016 version, I am really stuck.
Please take into consideration this request and consider the possibility of its reactivation.

We realize that Pivot Tables and Charts have been a great feature and many Access users found them to be highly useful.
As you may already know, they have been removed as the technology they relied on, was no longer supported (Office Web Components).

At this point we have no plan to bring Pivot Tables and Charts back. However we are looking into ways to improve and modernize data visualization in Access.

    Stay tuned.

  13. What would be very cool would be if you could talk code ... say i want a form to do xyz and it pull details together... I'm not a programme

i'm not a programmer and find it difficult and dont have time.. but have a lot of ideas which i want to get to work fast and when i speak with programmers they don't understand what i want etc so take a lot of hard work and time to make progress..

We appreciate your suggestion, however feel it is not the right place for it.
Access is a great tool for both developers and end-user with minimal programming/tech skills.
Ramp up before you are able to create something meaningful is relatively short. Give it a try!

  14. One time activation for all of Office 265. One Time filling the stupid form out. Not every time idiot software engineering!

Activation should only happen with the suite. NOT ALL FIVE, and when you use one of them EVERYTIME!!!!!!

Take some lessons from Apple. quit being such PIN HEADS!

  16. Improve Access Accessibility

Improve accessibility for Microsoft Access when using Jaws and or NVDA screen reading software. I here that better support has been made for narrator, but until narrator becomes more usable for every day tasks, most people will use jaws or NVDA.

    Thank you Timothy for posting.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.
With that, we are committed to always improve our products to help people of all abilities access information and have fulfilling interactions with our products.
In that sense, Access is no different.
There are multiple accessibility improvements we’ve introduced in the last year (read more https://support.office.com/en-us/article/What-s-new-in-Access-2016-76454345-f85d-47af-ace1-98a456cb3496) and we will continue to strive to improve it further.

I’m updating the status to no current plan so you can get your votes back and re-use them.
Feel free to suggest specific accessibility requests/features.

    Thanks,
