    oops I missed a step!
The TestBE must be Set to “SQL Server Compatible Syntax (Ansi 92)” to see the error!
Go to File > Options > Object Designers
Under Query Design find “SQL Server Compatible Syntax (Ansi 92)”
Tck/ Check if NOT selected. Click OK to apply…

Long overdue. Such an easy fix for otherwise extremely complex workarounds.

Agree "This has to be done!!!"

There are many times this would be handy. As in the example, removing "obsolete" products from the combo row source prevents then being added fine. However in a Datasheet the column now shows as blank for those products that are obsolete!

Nice Idea but out of votes!
As a workaround I guess we can use several popup forms but without the direct linking of a parent form.

Good Thought! ( but out of Votes)
I now have to install with Trusted Locations in the Registry with keys for 16(2016), 15(2013), 14(2010) and 12(2007)!
I guess next year we add 17 as well?

The ability to use SHELL to open and run an encrypted Access database is the requirement here.
NOT simply a windows shortcut with password embedded for convenience!
If the Password is accepted by the command line switch we can then open another Access application to run silently in the background IN ITS OWN THREAD!
this cannot be done using .OpenCurrentDatabase as this hijacks the original applications thread. -Try it yourself.
This will enhance security as now i must leave my application unprotected and un-encrypted to be able to use shell!
